Since I am currently running into this issue right now as I type this, I though I would share my experiences with moving a ModX Revolution site from one server to another. It is not an easy task, but can be accomplished rather easily. The first thing you will need to do is to verify that your new server has PHP and MySQL installed, along with the PDO drivers. Next step is to search through your current database and change any physical paths it may contain to point to your new directory structure on the new server. I have become quite the ModX lover lately, I use it to run my site, as well as a great number of client websites and find that it is extremely speedy, easy to use (from my perspective), and easy to teach. Well kiddies time for another installment into my mind. :) Today I am going to tell you how I managed to install Windows 2008 R2 Server on a virtual machine on my Ubuntu Server. Being a developer jack-of-all-trades I needed to have a very stable environment for some of the sites I develop, but still allow myself to develop for Microsoft. I... Am a developer. As a result, I know a multitude of different programming and scripting languages ranging from Visual Basic to HTML and just about everything between.
